Interests
Baroque Roman painting, sculpture, and literary culture; historiography and the afterlives of pagan antiquity; sodomy and same-sex desire in early modern art and literature; the development of the male nude and landscape as genres through which allegorical and literal worldviews of power emerged at the dawn of modernity; and the male nude as a site of classical, poetic, and erotic meaning, interpreted through a transhistorical queer feminist lens.
