How art can inspire a somatic response. I find myself interested in Dominican Catholic devotional practices of self-mutilation and often examine the paradoxical eroticism. I am also drawn towards the metaphysical properties of red pigments, particularly vermilion, and how they have been used to animate an image with divinity to elevate the viewer's spiritual response.
