Mary is a Ph.D. student interested in nineteenth-century British and American literature, particularly regarding emergent conditions of publication, authorship, and ownership over the text. She is passionate about periodical literature, archival databases, and Victorian legacies, and her research takes a critical lens to literary studies to illuminate the ways that categories of literary excellence, popularity, and greatness are historically and culturally constituted.
