Information for New Students
Welcome Admitted Students for Fall 2024!
Congratulations on your decision to join our Speech Language Pathology or Audiology program at Syracuse University's Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders!
We put together the following general information to help you prepare for your potential arrival at Syracuse. Some of the below information does not require any action until orientation weekend, but has been included so that you are aware of any costs associated ahead of time.
Important Deadlines
Immediate Action Items
- If you are accepting our offer:
- Send an email to csd@syr.edu with your intent.
- Deadline: April 15, 2024.
- Associated costs: $0.
- Please access the Admitted Student Portal, complete the Admission Acceptance Form and pay the Non-refundable Enrollment Deposit of $500.
- Deadline: As soon as you can to reserve your spot in the program.
- Associated costs: $500.00 non-refundable deposit, payable online or by check.
- FAFSA: If you are a US citizen, you must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible: https://fafsa.ed.gov/
- Deadline: As soon as possible as funding is first come first served.
- Associated costs: $0.
- International Students: SUIA form and proof of funding for one year. The SUIA form was emailed along with your admittance letter. Please complete and return along with your proof of funding for one year of study.
- Deadline: As soon as possible. Must be done in order to be matriculated into the program.
- Associated costs: $0.
- Orientation: It is mandatory for all matriculated students to attend an orientation meeting prior to the start of the semester. The dates for orientation this year are yet to be determined but will be the week of August 19, 2024. Details will be emailed to you as soon as plans are finalized.

Preparation for Arrival
- SU Email: Follow the instructions here: https://its.syr.edu/newtosu/applied/getnetid.html
- As of July 1, 2024 all department communication will be done through your SU Email address, so be sure to activate it as soon as possible.
- Deadline: July 1, 2024.
- Associated costs: $0.
- Send Official Transcripts: CSDCAS does not mail the official transcripts to us from your application and Syracuse University requires official transcripts from ALL colleges or universities attended. Send them to:

- Associated costs: Varies by college or university.
- Health Services Requirements and Information: Health Services requires all full-time students to provide proof of insurance/immunizations and to complete a health form found here: https://www.syracuse.edu/admissions/undergraduate/admitted/health-services-requirements/
- Deadline: July 1, 2024.
- Associated costs: Varies depending on students’ needs.
- Clinical Forms: The New Student Data form and Emergency Information form are required for SLP students only.
- Deadline: July 1, 2024.
- Associated costs: $0.
- Typhon: Syracuse University uses the Typhon system to track all courses and clinical hours. Students will be required to enter all case logs/time logs. You will receive an email with a login and temporary password during orientation weekend.
- Deadline: Orientation weekend (August, 2024).
- Associated costs: $100.00 one-time fee.
- Student Parking: Students are required to have reliable transportation before they start their externships. To apply for a parking permit, go to myslice.syr.edu and log on using your NetID and password. Under “Student Services” there is a link to “Parking Services.” You will need a student pass for the SKYTOP lot for the full year, including summer.
