We are ecstatic to share that this spring Valeria Perez, a PhD student in the Parks lab, has been selected to receive a 2023 National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship. This highly prestigious federal award includes three years of stipend, research and travel support.

The NDSF Fellowship is sponsored by the Army research Office, the Air Force office of Scientific research, and the office of Naval research. It was established to help more U.S. citizens receive doctoral degrees in areas of science and engineering that could be of military importance. Since its inception, this highly completive program has awarded nearly 4700 fellowships.

Applicants compete for fellowship opportunities in disciplines such as astrodynamics, biomedical engineering, biosciences, cognitive, neural, and behavioral sciences, mechanical engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering and more. Once selected, Fellows can choose the institution they wish to attend in pursuit of their doctoral degree.
