M. Lisa Manning, the William R. Kenan Jr. professor of physics at Syracuse University, was interviewed for a Syracuse.com Q&A titled, "M. Talking about the importance of female mentors who supported her through the years, she said, "Having someone that looks like you in a position of leadership, in and of itself, makes a big difference. And the fact that those women were all willing to slough off some of my rough edges, and even when I made mistakes, find space for me to continue and support me…has really made a big impact on both my success and expertise. They continue to give me advice for how to be a leader. That network of women has been extremely important."
