Michael Marciano
Michael Marciano, professor of practice and director for forensics research in the College of Arts and Sciences, was interviewed by ABC 10News San Diego about an ongoing investigation involving human remains discovered at a Newton Avenue property in San Diego.
In the interview, Marciano explained the challenges of identification in such cases and highlighted a potential solution. "One thing that is important to consider is the fact that in order to identify the individual it needs to be compared to something," he said. "This might be one of those situations where the use of forensic investigative genetic genealogy could actually help the case."
