The Department of Art and Music Histories is thrilled to welcome three new faculty members in Fall 2021: Warrick Moses, Ruth Opara, and Serena Wang.
Professor Moses received his Ph.D. in African and African American studies with a secondary field in ethnomusicology from Harvard University. His areas of specialization include racial and linguistic identity in popular music, hip-hop studies, music of the African diaspora, and Afrofuturism and African futurities.
Professor Opara received her Ph.D. in musicology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Her areas of specialization include music in Africa and the production of knowledge, music and the global woman, music and gender, Black Atlantic music, and African music and transnational encounters.
Professor Wang received her Ph.D. in musicology from the CUNY Graduate Center. Her research and teaching interests include music and diaspora, musical transnationalism, and contemporary Chinese music.
