Syracuse University offers many online resources to support your professional development, and you can use them straight from your dorm room. As a student with an @syr.edu email address, you’ll get free access to Claude, VMock, Big Interview, Handshake and Syracuse University Libraries resources.

Syracuse University is one of the first universities in the country to offer campuswide access to Claude, and students, faculty and staff can claim a Claude Enterprise license. You can upload documents, connect Claude with Microsoft 365 and work on long-term projects.

Claude Enterprise includes a Learning Mode designed to guide students through problems rather than simply hand over answers. Through Claude, you can brainstorm ideas, revise your drafts and analyze long PDFs and data files. You can also create shareable projects for group work and peer review. Having Claude on campus means you can keep your work in one place and talk through problems as you learn.

VMock is a free 24/7 resume review platform where you upload your resume and receive a score out of 100 based on impact, presentation and competencies. You gain points for strong action verbs, quantified achievements and showing the results of your work, and you lose points for filler words, weak adverbs and passive phrasing. The platform uses resume guidelines tailored to your school or college, and you get 10 uploads each academic year.

Another career-strengthening resource is Big Interview, where you can record practice interviews and review them yourself or share them with a career advisor for feedback. You can also schedule practice interviews with your school or college career advisors. Big Interview is free for students, and you’ll keep access after you graduate, too.

Handshake is a centralized career management tool where you can search and apply for jobs, internships, school-sponsored immersion trips and career events. Employers post to Handshake when they’re looking for college students, and often for Syracuse students in particular. The platform includes hundreds of thousands of employers, from startups to Fortune 500 companies. All you have to do is log in and start making connections.

You may not realize that, as a Syracuse student, you also get free access to major news outlets, databases and streaming services. Through Syracuse University Libraries, you can read The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post, and a separate University agreement covers Syracuse.com. Beyond the news, you can explore more than 550 databases and streaming services like Kanopy.

Whether you’re thinking about applying or are already enrolled at Syracuse, you’ll quickly discover that the University provides many resources to help you learn, succeed and gain hands-on experience. These are just a few that I recommend taking advantage of right away.
