Yifan earned his Master’s degree in Buddhist Studies from the University of Hong Kong. He later worked as a research assistant at both the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, focusing on interdisciplinary projects related to Buddhism and history.

His current research examines Buddhism in contemporary Hong Kong, with particular emphasis on the impact of social movements and migration on local Buddhist communities and religious practices.
