Biographic Overview

Andi Alfian earned his Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy of Religion from Alauddin State Islamic University and his Master’s degree in Religious Studies from Gadjah Mada University. He is the founder of “Sekolah Anak Muda,” a non-profit initiative based in Sulawesi, Indonesia, dedicated to organizing public discussions on social, ecological, and educational issues related to youth, indigenous communities, and the environment.

Currently, Andi Alfian is pursuing a PhD in Religious Studies with a focus on indigenous religion(s) at the Department of Religion, Syracuse University, New York, as a recipient of the Fulbright Doctoral Degree Scholarship. His primary research interests include indigenous religious traditions, ritual-based environmental ethics, more-than-human philosophies, and the intersections of religion, indigeneity, and decolonial theory.
