Biographic Overview

Patricia Moody earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from the University of Southern Mississippi (B.S. 1962, M.A. 1963) and went on to graduate study in English linguistics and medieval literature at the University of Texas at Austin (Ph.D., 1972). She has specialized in the history of the English language, the history of English linguistics, and medieval literature. She has authored a writing textbook, Writing Today; edited an anthology of critical readings, Readings in Textual Studies, and published articles on English grammatical history, medieval English literature, and pedagogy. As Faculty Coordinator for Writing and English courses offered through Project Advance, Syracuse’s concurrent enrollment program, she has written instructional materials, designed curriculum and professional development, and mentored high school instructors . She has been recognized by the New York State Council of Teachers of English, and with a Chancellor’s Citation (1996) by Syracuse University.
