Universal has optioned rights to the title story in “Friday Black” (Mariner Books, 2018) by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah G’16, a graduate of Syracuse’s top-ranked M.F.A. Program in Creative Writing, who teaches English and creative writing to University undergraduates. The New York Times bestseller, which explores themes of racism, violence and consumerism, has drawn comparisons to works by Ralph Ellison, Kurt Vonnegut and Anton Chekov.
