A&S Dean Behzad Mortazavi Joins Syracuse University Leadership Team on Visit to South Korea
The group of deans, directors and professors met with representatives from Korean universities to explore collaborative opportunities.
College of Arts and Sciences (A&S) Dean Behzad Mortazavi was part of a team from Syracuse University on a week-long exploratory trip to South Korea to meet with scholars and discuss potential partnerships. Among the locations the group toured were Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), Korea University and Ewha Womans University, each located in Seoul. During their visit to SKKU, Mortazavi met with Professor Kyung-ha Lee (above, left) from that university’s Department of Physics. Like many faculty from A&S’ physics department, Lee specializes in gravitational waves research, demonstrating a promising area of collaboration. Throughout the week, the delegation also met with several Syracuse University alumni, including graduates of A&S.
Along with Dean Mortazavi, other Syracuse representatives included Nikita Bair, Esports program manager, Newhouse School/Falk College; Nicole Collins, director, Strategic Partnerships and Outreach, SU Abroad; Jason Feulner, senior director, International Development; Joey Gawrysiak, associate professor and executive director, Esports, Communications and Management, Newhouse School/Falk College; Daekwon Park, associate professor, School of Architecture; Andrew Sears, dean, School of Information Studies; Michael Speaks, dean, School of Architecture; and Pamela Young, director, Academic Strategic Plan Implementation.
