Looking for a fun challenge on campus?

The Department of Geography in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Maxwell School invites the Syracuse community to join them in celebrating National Geography Awareness Week.

Students in the department will be hosting a variety of events on Nov. 14 and 15 as part of the annual public awareness program organized by National Geographic Education Programs (NGEP), which encourages citizens young and old to think and learn about the significance of place and how we affect and are affected by it.

On both Tuesday and Wednesday, participants can visit “homebase” in the main lobby of the Schine Student Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Along with free cake, visitors can partake in an assortment of quizzes to test their geographic knowledge.

A historic Syracuse poster and photo exhibit will also be on display on Tuesday only in Strassers Commons on the second floor of Eggers Hall. The display is free and open to the public.

The highlight of the week’s events will be a Syracuse geocaching event on Tuesday, where participants, can discover hidden locations and surprises around campus by entering the geo codes into their Google app on a smart phone:
