Kathleen Kenny Appointed Dean’s Executive Assistant

Kenny brings 16 years of administrative experience to the front office at the College

Kathleen Kenny, a 16-year operations and planning specialist at Syracuse University, has been named Executive Assistant to Karin Ruhlandt, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Kenny will be responsible for providing administrative support to Dean Ruhlandt while assisting in the daily operations of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Most recently, Kenny was an administrative assistant in the College’s advancement office, where she was charged with tracking and reporting departmental gifts, and with the coordination, planning and execution of events on behalf of Karen Weiss Jones, assistant dean of advancement.

“I am delighted Kathleen has agreed to serve in this important position within the College,” said Ruhlandt. “I feel confident that her high-level administrative skills, professionalism, and warm demeanor are the perfect fit for the work that lies ahead of us as we continue to build an unrivaled College of Arts and Sciences.”

During her tenure at Syracuse University, Kenny has also served as an office supervisor in the College’s admissions office, as well as a coordinator in the student records office. She also spent several years in the sociology department, where she was responsible for helping students track the requirements towards the completion of their sociology degrees.

“I am energized by this wonderful new opportunity to work with Dean Ruhlandt and the students, faculty and staff in the College of Arts and Sciences. This is an exciting time to be a part of the College and I am thrilled to be a member of this dedicated and passionate team,” explained Kenny, who is also proudly working to complete her undergraduate degree in sociology at Syracuse.

Kenny resides in North Syracuse with her husband, Joseph. They have two children; Eric (23) and Courtney (20).
