The Forensic and National Security Sciences Institute (FNSSI) in Syracuse University’s College of Arts and Sciences will open doors in February with one of two open houses aimed at educating prospective students about The Institute’s programs and the various career paths in forensics.

The first of these events, which will begin in the Life Sciences Complex, is scheduled for Feb. 7; the second is planned for March 31.  FNSSI faculty, staff, and students will be on hand to discuss program offerings, answer questions, and provide guided tours of the facilities. 

The Feb. 7 schedule is as follows:

3-5 p.m.
•    Guided tour of classrooms, laboratories, and research facilities
•    Demonstrations of Blood Pattern Analysis and Ballistics
•    Up-close look at FNSSI’s state-of-the-art equipment

5-6 p.m.
•    Institute faculty members will host guests for refreshments, prior to providing a brief overview presentation of The Institute

6-8 p.m.
•    Meet-and-greet and Q&A session with faculty, staff, graduate students, and alumni

Forensic science is a rapidly growing field that incorporates a wealth of disciplines, from the natural and social sciences, to engineering and law, to the public humanities. In response to the increasing demand for academic opportunities in the industry, FNSSI offers a variety of programs for recent college graduates and mid-career professionals, including the M.S. in Forensic Science, the M.S. in Biomedical Forensic Science, the M.S./J.D. in Forensic, and an Advanced Certificate in Medicolegal Death Investigation, among others.
