Minor in Human Development and Family Science
Human Development and Family Science is the study of healthy development of children and families across diverse settings. This field provides knowledge and skills that can be applied to real world settings such as families, schools, workplaces and hospitals within the United States and internationally. The minor covers a broad foundation of issues focusing on children's, youth and families' well-being in the context of everyday life.
The Human Development and Family Science Department offers a minor for students pursuing programs in other areas of study. Students will gain understanding of children's, youth and families' well-being in the context of everyday life and will be able to apply their knowledge of individual's social, emotional and behavioral development in diverse settings.
Upon completing the program, students will be able to explain, discuss and analyze the principles of human development within families from diverse populations. They will also be able to describe how research is applied to understand human development and family processes across various settings.
