Coronat Senior, Nathan Torabi '26, spent his summer in Washington, D.C. on a twelve-week internship with TikTok's Global Public Policy department.
Torabi’s internship with TikTok followed and built upon his internship with former Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer in the Fall of his Junior year, when he studied in Washington, D.C., as part of the Maxwell in Washington, D.C. program through the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
During Torabi’s internship with TikTok’s Global Public Policy team, he conducted in-depth research on data privacy, youth safety and legislative trends. He played a key role in planning and executing major policy events and creator activations, including Pride Month, Congressional Black Caucus Week and Military/Veteran initiatives. This internship took place during a critical time for TikTok, as the platform navigated being banned and then saved through executive order extensions.
Torabi says he is returning to Syracuse for his senior year with a clearer picture of what he wants to do as a future career and is thankful to TikTok for allowing him the opportunity to intern for their company, and thankful to all of his mentors and advisors at Syracuse University for helping him get to this point.
