Leeya Abraham
Majors: Music and Anthropology
Leeya plans to apply her education in social work and music to a career in social-emotional education. Specifically, she aims to work with children through nonprofit organizations that offer music programming.
Chelsie Auguste
Majors: Political Science and Strategic Advertising
Minor: Marketing
Chelsie describes her time at Syracuse as "impactful.” She has grown her understanding of politics and political theory while grasping the data driven truth of advertising. With these skills, she hopes to provide a new and improved understanding to the political advertising world.
Rosina Boehm
Majors: Policy Studies and Magazine Journalism
Minor: French and Francophone Studies
At Syracuse, Rosina honed her community reporting skills. Her major in policy studies helped her better understand the world, while her magazine journalism major helped her develop her skills in the field. Spending three years at The Daily Orange was also foundational, and she’s excited to spend her final year there as managing editor. After graduation, Rosina aspires to be a reporter in local journalism.
Maya Espinel
Majors: Political Science and Law, Society and Policy
Minor: Public Relations
Maya has spent her time at Syracuse using her qualitative research skills, passion for community-centered policy, and love for the Latino community to research comparative politics. She plans to attend law school in the future.
Olutoyin Green
Majors: Political Philosophy; Health Humanities; and Law, Society and Policy
Minor: Public Health
Olutyoin brings a multidisciplinary, equity-focused lens to health policy and social justice. At Syracuse, she has examined how institutions and societies are created, sustained and reconstructed. Motivated by social justice, innovation and solidarity, she aims to build a healthier, more equitable world—starting with the laws and policies that shape our society.
Wafiq Khondkar
Majors: Biotechnology and Philosophy
Minor: Chemistry
Through his research projects, Wafiq uses molecular dynamics simulations to develop drug therapeutics and study biological systems. While at Syracuse, he has also helped expand medical access for farmworkers and worked on harm reduction programs for students. He aims to become a physician and will continue designing preventive care and educational initiatives for underserved communities.
Valeria Martinez Gutierrez
Majors: Sociology; Geography; and Environment, Sustainability and Policy
As a passionate advocate for environmental justice, Valeria has gained the predominant intersectional lenses necessary to understand how geopolitics exacerbate historic systemic injustices, and how policy can act as a solution, in ethical hands. She hopes to pursue her master’s degree in environmental health, followed by a law degree to ultimately practice environmental law and bring holistic solutions to marginalized communities.
Ty McElroye
Majors: Political Science and Accounting
During his time at Syracuse, Ty studied accounting and political science, developing a strong foundation in financial analysis, public policy and community development. Through his work with the City of Syracuse’s Department of Neighborhood and Business Development, he gained practical and meaningful experiences supporting local initiatives. He plans to pursue a career in consulting, helping organizations solve complex challenges and create meaningful, community-focused impacts.
Anna Meehan
Majors: Music History and Cultures; Russian Language, Literature and Culture; and International Relations
Anna has spent her time at Syracuse developing her research interests at the intersection of music, politics and identity in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. With support from the Coronat Scholars program, Anna traveled to Georgia to learn more about traditional music practices, including the study and performance of the instrument panduri. She plans to use these projects as a basis for further study in ethnomusicology Ph.D. programs and a certificate study in Georgian Folk Music at Tbilisi State Conservatory. She aspires to give back to the academic community through her future career.
Gary Shteyman
Majors: Neuroscience and Psychology
Minor: History
During his time at Syracuse, Gary has learned how clinical research, community outreach and collaboration with peers contribute to fostering a productive medical ecosystem. Gary plans to further his education and achieve a medical degree, which he will use to address disparities in access to neurological services in his own community.
Jessica Singh
Majors: Biochemistry and Communication Sciences and Disorders
During her time at Syracuse, Jessica developed essential laboratory skills alongside the foundational skills related to clinical practice. Jessica also gained invaluable clinical experience in the hospital providing direct care to patients. Recently accepted into medical school, she is excited to continue her education and become a physician.
Nathan Torabi
Majors: Political Science; Citizenship and Civic Engagement; and Law, Society and Policy
Minor: Communication and Rhetorical Studies
Nathan aims to bridge institutional and community gaps through public service, policy and strategic communication. He has already held impactful roles with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, TikTok’s Public Policy team, CNY Pride and the Law Office of Matthew Green. In these positions, he blended legal insight with civic engagement. He also co-founded the University’s chapter of Next Generation Leadership Corps and lead a national collaboration with the Volcker Alliance. Before graduating early to accept a job at TikTok, he was recognized as a Maxwell Centennial Scholar and Remembrance Scholar.
Jordyn Williams
Majors: Political Science and Television, Radio and Film
At Syracuse, Jordyn has developed her narrative voice as a screenwriter and producer, using her political science studies to contextualize her stories. She finds beauty in the mundane, creating rich, humanistic and emotionally intimate work. After graduation, Jordyn plans to work in creative development for the film and television industries while providing freelance production, public relations and cultural research services. Ultimately, Jordyn envisions herself working in the writers' rooms for various sitcom and drama television series.
