Kevin Antshel, professor of psychology, was quoted in a National Public Radio (NPR) article titled, "TikTok is full of ADHD advice — just don't trust it for a diagnosis." The article explored how social media, especially TikTok, has become a popular platform for sharing ADHD symptoms and advice, leading many adults to seek diagnoses after years of being overlooked. However, new research warns that less than half of the top TikTok videos on ADHD accurately match scientific criteria, often oversimplifying symptoms and potentially worsening people's perceptions of their own condition.

"If you spend enough time on TikTok, you're going to find hundreds of videos that you could walk away from saying, 'That's me, I think I have ADHD," Antshel said in the article.
