Britt Tevis, the Phyllis Backer Professor of Jewish Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences, was interviewed for a Wisconsin Public Radio article titled, "Milwaukee mural showing swastika with Star of David draws condemnation." In the piece, Tevis discussed how she believes the mural intentionally attempts to implicate the Jewish community as a whole for the actions of the Israeli government.

"I certainly sympathize with a desire to highlight the humanitarian crisis there," Tevis said in the article. “But doing so by using a symbol that represents a broader community of Jews worldwide, to my mind, does so in ways that involve antisemitism."
