Orange Alert

Rest Well, Return Ready (a holiday message)

Wishing you all a peaceful and restorative break.

As we approach the end of the semester, I want to recognize the dedication and hard work that each of you has brought to our community this year.

To our students finishing up finals: I know this is an intense time, and I'm proud of the effort you're putting in. You've got this. To our faculty and staff: thank you for the countless ways you've supported our students and advanced the College's mission throughout the year. A well-earned break is on the horizon.

Looking back on 2025, there's so much to feel proud of:

  • Our Office of Student Success launched CareerReady, a game-changing program that thoughtfully leads students step by step to career preparedness, from their first day to graduation. More than 2,000 students are already participating.
  • One of our creative writing professors received the National Book Award for Distinguished Contributions to American Letters, a top honor in American literature.
  • Some of our chemists pioneered new approaches to cancer treatment using ultrasound technology.
  • One environmental humanist advised the United Nations on sustainable food systems, while others brought together community leaders, teachers, students and artists to use storytelling to pursue environmental justice.
  • We welcomed the Department of Human Development and Family Science to A&S, expanding our health-related academic offerings.
  • 10 of our seniors were named Syracuse University Scholars—the highest undergraduate honor the University bestows.
  • And our awesome alumni paid forward their experiences with scholarship and research support, ensuring that more students have access to career-building experiential learning opportunities.

These accomplishments, and so many others, reflect the caliber of this college and the impact we're making together. As we head into 2026, I'm excited about the opportunities ahead—including our work on the College's new strategic plan—but for now, my hope is that you'll take this time to rest, recharge and enjoy time with the people you care about.

Thank you for everything you do to make A&S a remarkable place. Wishing you all a peaceful and restorative break.
