2022 Winston Fisher Seminar

Mitchell Friedman '23 pauses before heading into Sotheby's, one of the many destinations visited during this year's Winston Fisher immersion.

During spring break, A&S | Maxwell students traveled to Manhattan to gain firsthand knowledge of how a liberal arts degree can prepare them for a career in business.

Thanks to the Winston Fisher Seminar, students of all majors toured a range of employers, developed and presented business plans, and gained invaluable networking experience with alumni and recruiters. The immersion was founded by real estate developer, Dean’s Advisory Board and Board of Trustees member Winston Fisher ’96.

"This experience has been...such a good opportunity to see all of the Syracuse alumni that [are] here in New York, and to see how they took their degrees and applied them to the the jobs they have now."

Outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art, students are excited to listen to presentations from business professionals.

Students hear from A&S | Maxwell alum Erik Levin '92 about his career working in intellectual property law with the NBA.

In between their visits to NYC-based businesses, participants had the chance to build relationships with one another.

The group poses for a photo. Students visited businesses like Sotheby's, Ernst & Young, Centerview and Greenberg Traurig, among others.

Preparing and presenting business plans pushed students out of their comfort zones as they translated their communication and creative thinking skills into business world needs.

Winston Fisher Seminar participants learned about exciting career paths and opportunities to parlay their liberal arts education into career success.

The result? Students came away from the experience with a competitive edge in securing their first job. Another A&S advantage!
